Dressage is a work dedicated to femicide.
In this work the woman is represented as the object of the desire of the man who, in order to satisfy his whims, dresses in a ridiculous way, agreeing to wear garments that she does not really like (as in the detail of the hairstyle, precious but inappropriate).

In the work the similarity between the two protagonists is clear, side by side, united by the same destiny.
In fact, dressage is a practice with which the animal is trained and the symbol of this training are precisely the harnesses that, instead of being worn by the animal, make a good show on the woman.
The blinders represent the submission of the woman forced to blind obedience, without the possibility of choosing her path in the world for herself.
The bite, instead, is the symbolic instrument with which she is reduced to silence, that is to the impossibility of expressing her own opinion.

The similarity with the animal does not end with the graphic explanation of what has just been described, but continues beyond imagining the nefarious outcome in the event that the woman refuses to comply with the man’s desires. In this case, the same fate as the animal is reserved for the woman and, like it, is slaughtered.

Dressage è un’opera dedicata al femminicidio.
In quest’opera è rappresentata la donna come oggetto del desiderio dell’uomo che, per soddisfarne i capricci, veste in modo ridicolo, accettando di indossare anche capi a lei non graditi (come nel particolare dell’acconciatura, preziosa ma inopportuna).

Nell’opera è chiara la similitudine tra i due protagonisti, uno di fianco all’altro, accomunati dallo stesso destino.
Infatti il dressage è una pratica con cui viene addestrato l’animale e simbolo di questo addestramento sono appunto i finimenti che, anziché essere indossati dall’animale, fanno bella mostra sulla donna.
I paraocchi rappresentano la sottomissione della donna costretta all’obbedienza cieca, senza possibilità di scegliere per sè il suo cammino nel mondo.
Il morso invece è lo strumento simbolo col quale viene ridotta al silenzio, all’impossibilità di esprimere la propria opinione.

La similitudine con l’animale non si esaurisce con l’esplicitazione grafica di quando appena descritto, ma continua oltre immaginando l’esito nefasto nel caso in cui la donna rifiuti di assecondare i desideri dell’uomo. Nel tal caso alla donna è riservato lo stesso destino dell’animale e, al pari di esso, viene macellata.
