Title of the Exhibition: Solace
It was terrifying and elating at the same time. It was something it cannot easily be told. One would need to go through himself/herself to fully grab feelings and emotional state.
The main theme of the exhibition was contemporary humanity and its fears or worries in the ceaseless fight against its destiny and the vain quest to gain immortality.
The painting above is the most representative work of the feeling that inspired the entire collection and that for this reason it was chosen as a symbol of the exhibition.
It summarizes the meaning of Solace, that is, of consolation, because in our earthly life we need comfort from all the injustices of the Divine and of Man.
The impossibility of knowing our destiny in advance is both a grace and a damnation.
And it is precisely from the awareness of the precariousness of the human condition, the source of so much anxiety, that the desire to console himself with something that can cloud the sense of bewilderment that the unheard of answers to existential questions inevitably provoke.
Who we are? Where do we come from? Where do we go? Why are we in the world? What is our mission in this world?
All questions that will remain unanswered because there is no single answer to all or all.
Everyone chooses the path he can, with all the limitations of his existential contingency and often his immanence is more intricate than man himself can understand.
What derives from it is such a discouraging disappointment that it leads to the desperate attempt to resolve its own vicissitudes by clinging to any means to go up the slope, even to those questionable or deleterious (and which in the painting are depicted as the razor blade, the glass, the cigarette and the mirror, all symbols of panaceae that make us forget how much we cannot change as we please).
La scorsa settimana (dicembre 2018) sono stata nella mia città natale dove ho esposto per la prima volta!
È stato terrificante ed esaltante allo stesso tempo. È qualcosa che non si può descrivere facilmente.
Si dovrebbe provarlo sulla propria pelle per comprendere appieno sentimenti e stato emotivo.
Il tema principale della mostra era l’umanità contemporanea: le sue paure e le preoccupazioni nella lotta incessante contro il suo destino, nonché la vana ricerca di conseguire l’immortalità.
Il dipinto qui in alto è l’opera più rappresentativa del sentimento che ha ispirato l’intera collezione e che per questo che è stato scelto a simbolo della mostra.
Riassume il significato di Solace, ovvero di consolazione, perché nella nostra vita terrena abbiamo bisogno di conforto a tutte le ingiustizie del Divino e dell’Uomo.
L’impossibiltà di conoscere il nostro destino in anticipo è al tempo stesso una grazia ed una dannazione.
Ed è proprio dalla consapevolezza della precarietà della condizione umana, fonte di tanta ansia, che nasce il desiderio di consolarsi con quelcosa che possa offuscare il senso di smarrimento che le inesaudite risposte alle domande esistenziali inevitabilmente suscitano.
Chi siamo? Da dove veniamo? Dove andiamo? Perché siamo al mondo? Qual è la nostra missione in questo mondo?
Tutte domande che rimarranno inevase perché non esiste una sola risposta a tutte o per tutti.
Ognuno sceglie il percorso che può, con tutte le limitazioni della propria contingenza esistenziale e spesso la propria immanenza è più intricata di quanto l’uomo stesso possa comprendere.
Quel che ne deriva è una delusione talmente scoraggiante che porta al disperato tentativo di risolvere le proprie vicissitudini aggrappandosi a qualsiasi mezzo per risalire la china, anche a quelli discutibili o deleteri (e che nel dipinto sono raffigurati come la lametta, il bicchiere, la sigaretta e lo specchio tutti simboli di panacee atte a farci dimenticare quanto non riusciamo a modificare a nostro piacere).
